Watching All in the Family reminds me of my parents. Dad WAS Archie Bunker except with a thick Philly accent and Mom was somewhat like Edith in that she took very good care of that old man without any complaints and she was very kind hearted. Mom, like Edith, never speaks ill of people, it's just not in her nature. She is not ditzy like Edith, far from it. Mom is what I call Mensa Smart but every once in a while she will say something or tell one of her long ass stories that reminds me of Edith so therefore I associate her with Edith if that makes any sense. Mom and Dad together back in the early days could remind you of the Bunkers. There was something about the way my parents would talk or even argue that was so very Bunker-like. Oh boy was it ever fun to go on vaction with those two. I didn't need my TV Bunkers, I had the real thing right in front of me.
Of course Edith is my favorite All in the Family character because she always had words of wisdom in the midst of a crisis. I also love when she sings!! So although my mother would not be very fond of me comparing her to Edith Bunker especially on her 75th Birthday, I am going to do it anyhow. I love the Old Lady and the Old Lady is 75!
