Almost As Angry As Rollins

day 619

Death is all around us every single day.
Gee that's a hell of thought to begin with, but it's true.  This week I discovered 4 folks in the "industry" are now knocking on heaven's door so to speak.  The one that disturbed me the most was Levon Helm.  Wow, what an awesome musician and from what I hear he was a nice fellow too.  He was a close personal friend of Bob Dylan and now I am sad because I know Bob is sad.  I don't like it when folks I dig are sad.  Richard Simmons is weeping because his good buddy Dick Clark is gone.  I love Richard Simmons and I hate knowing that he is not his happy, peppy, crazy self.   Instead of being Robert Smith Depressed about all this death shit I have just become Henry Rollins Pissed Off.  It's one step beyond being Lewis Black Pissed Off and that is pretty darn pissed.   I've  also started to become one of those weird paranoid types you read about in novels or see in films from the 70's.  I am afraid to look at any news website or even read a paper because I am fearful that I will find out someone else died.  I am rational enough to realize that everyone and everything will eventually die, even Keith Richards.  It sucks, but it's the way life goes.  So now when I am sitting around listening to music or watching TV I start to think about the folks that entertain me the most and I wonder what life will be like when they die.  Oh yes, I am a walking ball of fucking sunshine these days.  The truth is, I know what will happen when those that I dig die, the world will keep on spinning and I will do what the things that I have always done to survive.  Crawling and punching my way through each day trying to groove on happy vibes.  It's not easy being me most days, but I can't imagine being anyone else.

In the midst of being pissed off last night I was sitting watching a Henry Rollins spoken word performance  minding my own god-damned business like I always do when a seriously disturbing thought hit me.  I thought, "Oh shit, what if Rollins dies?"  It was a horrible few 38 minutes and I tried very hard to erase that thought from my mind.  I had to stop the DVD and ponder for a while until I was able to watch it again.  In my head I know Rollins is a strong man who takes damn good care of himself.  However, I also know he works like a motherfucker 364 days out of the year.  He works hard and plays hard and never really gets enough rest in my humble opinion.

It can be a stressful life, and stress is what really killed Davy Jones you know.  Or did it?
In my mind I know that Davy Jones died of a heart attack which I know was brought on by a lot of stress in his personal life, but deep down I have a sneaking suspicion that Ginger Boy jinxed him.  I mean, every time I would watch or listen to The Monkees Ginger Boy would say stupid shit like, "Oh did you hear, Davy Jones died today."   He has said this for about a year and BAM, Davy Jones dies. I often wonder why he targeted the youngest Monkee?  Did he know something?   When we would see Dick Clark on TV or if Dick Clark's name was ever mentioned he would joke, "I heard Dick Clark died today."  Now Dick Clark is dead. In the past 4 years I have known Ginger Boy he has joked about a lot of folks being dead when they weren't really dead.  Michael Jackson, Elizabeth Taylor, Bea Arthur, Steve Jobs, Paul Newman, my Aunt Patsy, George Carlin and Gary Coleman have been the subjects of his weird death jokes and now they are all dead.  It makes you wonder if he knows things we don't know.  I mean, I know I know things and not just because I watch Dr. Oz.  I know things just because I know them but I don't know death things.  Like I have no clue what happens to you after you die and I am not sure anyone else does except maybe a few of those folks who claim to see and speak to dead people.   Is it possible that Ginger Boy has some sort of unconscious wish to kill celebrities and persons of interest?  It just can't be possible.  I mean could his diet of fast food, gummy bears and super spicy Thai food give him some sort of super power to kill off superstars?  I don't know, but they say anything is possible.

Fast forward to today when he came over to use the printer he saw a current picture of the remaining Monkees at a private memorial for Davy Jones.  Of course he had to make the negative comment that they did not look good.  WHO CARES HOW THEY LOOK, THEY'RE FUCKING AWESOME!!  Pete and Mike are 70 years old and Micky is 67 they look like folks their age look For Pete's Sake!!

My boys are still rockin' in my eyes!
He said Mike Nesmith looked the worst and he was probably the next one to die.  Now why would somebody say something shitty like that to a girl who is still pretty bummed about Davy Jones being dead?  I mean really, is that necessary?  It's mean and I am used that kind of typical mean rubbish from him. I shouldn't be, but I am.   He not only said it once but he said it three times.  THREE TIMES!  Oh crap, the Beetlejuice Effect.  I kind of want to kick Ginger Boy in his ginger balls but,  the nicer side of me thinks that would be pointless.  It sure would be funny but,  pointless.  So instead I reversed his stupid little death curse and told him that his father was the next person to die.  I got pretty graphic about it too and it was so childish of me I LOVED IT!   Since I was pretty damn pissed off I  could have gone all Rollins on his ass and beat him down intellectually but, it's not nice to tease the mentally challenged.

So now what?  Do I sit and worry about Mike every moment of every day or do I just move on and ignore the words of a Hanover Hick?  What does he know anyhow, he eats mayonnaise!!  He didn't know who Sid Vicious was when Sid's name came up in a recent conversation.  My soon to be 76 year old mother knows who Sid Vicious was! What a weenis he is.

Everyone and everything will eventually die because everything is temporary.  I know this and you know this.  I am just thankful for each day I am able to wake up and enjoy the music and other things I dig regardless if the person or persons who had a hand in bringing them to fruition is dead or alive.  Yes it really sucks when people die, but I have no control over it.  I wish the deaths could stop for a few years because they interrupt so much shit in my life.  I don't like my shit interrupted.  In the words of the immortal Jordan Weaver, "I just don't like to be disturbed!!"  I am sure I am not alone with that feeling.  From now on I am not going to let whatever good old Hot Dog Face himself says bother me.   I will try my hardest not to let my shit get disturbed so much too.  However, if my shit didn't get disturbed this blog would not exist.  Trust me folks, I will never run out of things to complain about because the world keeps pissing me off.  Most days I am almost as angry as Rollins.  Almost.

off to enjoy another sunny, SUNNY day!

I'm Thinking Maybe. . .

day 612

Not depressed just very contemplative these days.  So now you must be bored by another video post from the 90's.   That is where the mind is stuck these days.  I am not longing for my youth because I am still very young.  I just miss someone and some things that made that time insane, joyful, amazing, crazy, wild, naughty, fun, serene and even a bit lonely.  However I am not completely fucked up like that chick Mavis in the film Young Adult.  I am just thinking maybe. . .

off to enjoy another sunny, SUNNY day.
